Description

These Air Fryer Fried Pickles are a healthier alternative to traditional fried pickles, featuring a crispy panko coating and served with a tangy, creamy dipping sauce. Perfect as a snack or appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 cup sliced pickles

2 large eggs

3 tablespoons flour

1 tablespoon hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

¼ cup sour cream

¼ cup mayonnaise

½ teaspoon salt (for dip)

½ teaspoon black pepper (for dip)

¼ cup minced onions

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried dill (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lay paper towels on a clean surface and place the pickle slices on top. Cover with more paper towels and gently press to remove excess moisture. Let sit for a few minutes.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, flour, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Place panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow dish.
  4. Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, then coat with panko breadcrumbs. Set aside on a baking sheet.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Place coated pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring space between each. Lightly spray with oil.
  7. Air fry for 5–7 minutes, flip, spray the other side, and cook for another 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. In a small bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, minced onion, garlic, and dill (if using) until well combined.
  9. Serve fried pickles hot with the prepared dip.

Notes

Thoroughly dry the pickles to ensure crispiness.

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.

Use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.

Replace eggs and dairy-based dip ingredients with plant-based alternatives for a vegan version.

Best served immediately for optimal crunch.

Reheat in air fryer at 375°F for 3-5 minutes to retain crispiness.
