This Apple Cider Syrup is a cozy, fall-inspired syrup made with apple cider, sugar, butter, and warm spices. Perfect for drizzling over breakfast dishes or desserts, it’s an easy, versatile, and make-ahead-friendly treat.
Ingredients
2 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
4 cups apple cider
1 tablespoon lemon juice
6 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and pumpkin pie spice.
- Pour in the apple cider and lemon juice, stirring until the dry ingredients are fully dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat slightly and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After 30 minutes, stir in the butter until fully melted. Remove from heat.
- Pour the syrup into clean canning jars and let it cool before sealing.
- Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- To serve, microwave the syrup for 1–2 minutes or warm it gently on the stove before pouring over your desired foods.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.
Microwave or gently heat before serving.
Try with pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, or ice cream.
For a vegan version, use plant-based butter.
Thicken by simmering longer or adding more cornstarch.
