Description
These Chicken Feta Spinach Burgers are a juicy, flavorful, and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. Made with ground chicken, fresh spinach, and crumbled feta cheese, they bring a Mediterranean twist to your summer meals. Easy to prepare and perfect for a quick, nutritious main course.
Ingredients
Chicken Burger Mixture
- 1 lb ground chicken (92% lean)
- ½ cup fresh spinach, chopped
- ⅓ cup feta cheese, crumbled
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
For Cooking
- Cooking oil (for skillet)
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, crumbled feta, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and mayonnaise. Gently mix the ingredients until just combined, taking care not to overwork the mixture to keep the burgers tender.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixture evenly into 5 patties, approximately 3.5 ounces each. Use a kitchen scale or a plastic-lined ½ cup measuring cup for even sizing. Press a slight indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Cook Patties: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and lightly oil it. Place the patties on the skillet and cover with a lid or mixing bowl to create a dome. Cook the first side for 4-5 minutes until nicely browned.
- Flip and Finish Cooking: Flip the patties and cook uncovered for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 155-160°F. This ensures the burgers are fully cooked but still juicy.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes. This helps redistribute the juices for a moist final bite. Serve warm as desired.
Notes
- Do not over-mix the chicken mixture to avoid tough burgers.
- Using a kitchen scale or measuring cup ensures evenly sized patties for uniform cooking.
- Listening for an internal temperature of 155-160°F guarantees food safety and juiciness.
- Allowing the burgers to rest after cooking enhances moisture retention.
- These burgers pair well with whole wheat buns, fresh salad, or a light tzatziki sauce.
