Ingredients
Chicken and Dairy
- 3 Cups Cooked shredded chicken
- 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
- 1/3 Cup Milk
- 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Soups and Seasonings
- 1 (10 Ounce) Can Cream of Chicken Soup
- 1 (10 Ounce) Can Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup
- 1 Packet Ranch Seasoning Mix
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
Topping
- 32 Ounce Package Frozen Tater Tots
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and set it aside for assembling the casserole.
- Mix the Casserole Base. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning mix, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well blended. Then, fold in the cooked shredded chicken until fully combined.
- Assemble the Casserole. Pour the prepared chicken mixture evenly into the greased baking dish. Next, arrange the frozen tater tots in an even layer on top of the mixture for a crispy topping once baked.
- Bake the Casserole. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Bake until the casserole is hot and bubbly, and the tater tots are golden and crispy on top.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked rotisserie chicken for a quicker option.
- For extra crispiness, broil the casserole for 2-3 minutes after baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Add a handful of chopped green onions or bell peppers to the mixture for added flavor and texture.
- Use reduced-fat soups and cheese for a lighter version.
- This casserole can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
