Ingredients
Chocolate Mixture
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cereal
- 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 1 ½ to 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare Chocolate Mixture: Place the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir the mixture thoroughly. Return to the microwave and heat for an additional 30 seconds or until the mixture is smooth when stirred. Add the vanilla extract and stir again to combine.
- Coat the Cereal: Pour the Rice Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl. Add the chocolate peanut butter mixture to the cereal and gently stir until the cereal is completely and evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.
- Add Powdered Sugar: Transfer the coated cereal to a large Ziploc bag. Add the powdered sugar to the bag, seal it securely, and shake vigorously until every piece of cereal is well coated with powdered sugar.
- Set and Store: Spread the Puppy Chow on parchment or waxed paper to cool and set the chocolate coating. Once set, store the Puppy Chow in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. If the kitchen is warm, refrigerate to prevent melting.
