Ingredients
1 pound lump crabmeat
1 lemon (zested and juiced)
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 ½ tablespoons mayonnaise
1 ½ tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (plus more to garnish)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ cup chopped fresh chives (plus more to garnish)
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Place crabmeat in a colander and rinse with cold water. Gently squeeze out excess moisture and remove any shell pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
- Juice and zest the lemon to yield about 2 teaspoons zest and 3 tablespoons juice.
- In a large bowl, combine 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon lemon zest, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay, garlic powder, salt, and chives.
- Use a hand mixer on medium-low speed until smooth.
- Gently fold in the crabmeat.
- Season with black pepper and adjust with more salt, Old Bay, lemon zest, or lemon juice as desired.
- Garnish with extra chives and a sprinkle of Old Bay before serving.
Notes
- Best served chilled, but can be gently warmed if preferred.
- Fresh lump or jumbo lump crabmeat provides the best flavor and texture.
- Do not freeze, as the texture will change.
- Pairs well with crackers, vegetable sticks, tortilla chips, or baguette slices.
