Description

This Crab Dip Recipe is a creamy, tangy, and savory appetizer made with fresh lump crabmeat, cream cheese, and Old Bay seasoning. Ready in just 15 minutes, it’s perfect for parties, gatherings, or a quick snack.

Ingredients

1 pound lump crabmeat

1 lemon (zested and juiced)

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 ½ tablespoons mayonnaise

1 ½ tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (plus more to garnish)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon kosher salt

¼ cup chopped fresh chives (plus more to garnish)

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place crabmeat in a colander and rinse with cold water. Gently squeeze out excess moisture and remove any shell pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
  2. Juice and zest the lemon to yield about 2 teaspoons zest and 3 tablespoons juice.
  3. In a large bowl, combine 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon lemon zest, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay, garlic powder, salt, and chives.
  4. Use a hand mixer on medium-low speed until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the crabmeat.
  6. Season with black pepper and adjust with more salt, Old Bay, lemon zest, or lemon juice as desired.
  7. Garnish with extra chives and a sprinkle of Old Bay before serving.

Notes

  • Best served chilled, but can be gently warmed if preferred.
  • Fresh lump or jumbo lump crabmeat provides the best flavor and texture.
  • Do not freeze, as the texture will change.
  • Pairs well with crackers, vegetable sticks, tortilla chips, or baguette slices.
