Description
This creamy garlic pasta recipe delivers a rich and flavorful meal that’s simple to prepare in just 15 minutes. Made with a luscious garlic-infused cream sauce, Parmesan cheese, and perfectly cooked linguine, it’s an ideal dish for a quick weeknight dinner or a cozy weekend treat.
Ingredients
Pasta
- 8 ounces uncooked pasta (linguine recommended)
Sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon flour
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside when ready.
- Make the Roux: While the pasta is nearly done, melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring frequently, to create a roux that will thicken the sauce.
- Add Garlic and Broth: Stir in the minced garlic and chicken broth. Let it simmer for about one minute so the garlic infuses into the liquid and the mixture slightly reduces.
- Incorporate Cream: Whisk in the heavy cream and continue to cook the sauce for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. Allow the sauce to thicken to your desired consistency.
- Add Cheese and Season: Stir the grated Parmesan cheese into the sauce until melted and smooth. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
- Toss Pasta and Serve: Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to coat, adding a splash of pasta cooking water if you prefer a thinner sauce. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and smooth melting.
- Adjust garlic amount to your preference for a milder or stronger garlic taste.
- Adding pasta cooking water to the sauce helps loosen it without diluting flavor.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with a crisp green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
