Crispy Buffalo Tofu Bites are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional buffalo wings. These tofu bites are coated in a flavorful mix of cornstarch, garlic powder, and panko crumbs, then air-fried or baked to perfection. Ingredients
Tofu Bites
- 16 oz extra firm tofu (drained and pressed)
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/3 cup unsweetened soy milk
- 1-1.5 cups panko bread crumbs or crushed Ritz Crackers
Sauce
- 1 cup buffalo sauce (such as Frank’s Red Hot)
Instructions
- Prepare Tofu: Cut tofu into large cubes about 2-3 inches long for ideal bite size pieces.
- Coat with Cornstarch Mixture: Place tofu cubes in a large resealable plastic bag together with cornstarch and garlic powder. Gently shake the bag until tofu pieces are evenly coated. Alternatively, mix in a large bowl thoroughly.
- Dip in Soy Milk and Bread Crumbs: Dip the cornstarch-coated tofu pieces into soy milk, shaking off any excess liquid. Then dredge them in panko bread crumbs or crushed crackers ensuring full coverage.
- Cook Tofu Bites: For air fryer: Distribute tofu bites evenly in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 12-14 minutes, flipping halfway through until crispy and golden. Remove tofu bites and dip them into buffalo sauce with a fork to coat, drain excess sauce, place back into the basket, and air fry for an additional 5 minutes for extra crispiness. For oven: Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Arrange tofu bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes flipping halfway until golden and crispy. Dip in buffalo sauce, then bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until crispy again.
- Serve: Serve the buffalo tofu bites hot with vegan ranch or blue cheese dressing. Optionally, garnish with chopped parsley for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.
