Ingredients
1 pound large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Vegetable oil, for frying
½ cup hot honey
Parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F.
- Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Drain on a lined baking sheet, drizzle with hot honey, and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Swap hot honey with regular honey for a milder flavor.
Panko breadcrumbs can replace flour for extra crunch.
Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 375°F to maintain crispiness.
Bake instead of fry at 425°F for 12–15 minutes as a lighter option.
Best enjoyed immediately after frying for maximum crunch.
