Description
Easy Vanilla Blond Syrup, also known as Dutch Honey, is a rich and creamy homemade syrup with a sweet vanilla-caramel flavor. Perfect for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, French toast, biscuits, or desserts, this syrup comes together in just 15 minutes with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup salted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, heavy cream, butter, and vanilla extract.
- Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a low boil, stirring continuously.
- Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 5–10 minutes, stirring, until the syrup thickens to your desired consistency.
- Just before removing from heat, stir in the baking soda until fully dissolved.
- Serve warm over breakfast or dessert, or let cool and refrigerate for later use.
Notes
- Add cinnamon for a warm, spiced twist.
- For deeper caramel flavor, cook sugar slightly longer before adding cream and butter.
- Swap vanilla extract with maple extract for a maple-vanilla variation.
- For a dairy-free version, use coconut cream and vegan butter.
- Adjust thickness by simmering longer for a thicker syrup.
