Description

Creamy and indulgent homemade fudge popsicles made with rich milk, heavy cream, cocoa, and chocolate chips. These easy-to-make frozen treats combine the luscious flavors of fudge in a refreshing popsicle form, perfect for cooling down on a warm day or satisfying your chocolate cravings anytime.

Ingredients

Dairy & Liquid Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla paste

Sweeteners & Flavorings

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

Chocolate

  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Simmer the Milk Mixture: In a large saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it reaches a light simmer, then immediately remove the pan from the heat to prevent burning.
  2. Blend Chocolate and Mixture: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a blender. Pour the hot milk mixture over the chocolate and let it sit for a couple of minutes to soften the chocolate. Add the vanilla paste and fine sea salt, then blend the mixture until it is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Freeze the Popsicles: Pour the blended chocolate mixture into 8 ice pop molds, filling them about three-quarters of the way. Freeze the molds for approximately 30 minutes until the mixture firms up enough to hold the popsicle sticks upright. Insert wooden popsicle sticks into each mold, then freeze overnight or until completely solid.
  4. Serve the Popsicles: To release the fudge pops from the molds, run the bottom of each mold under warm water for a few seconds or let the molds sit at room temperature for a few minutes. Serve immediately while cold and enjoy your rich homemade fudge popsicles.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute the milk and heavy cream with coconut milk or almond milk, but note that the texture and flavor will vary slightly.
  • Using vanilla paste provides a more intense vanilla flavor than extract, but vanilla extract can be substituted if needed.
  • Adjust the sweetness by using more or less sugar and chocolate chips according to your preference.
  • Ensure the mixture is not too hot when pouring into molds to prevent cracking when freezing.
  • To avoid formation of ice crystals, blend thoroughly and ensure mixture is smooth before freezing.
