Ingredients
Prawns
- 500 gram Prawns (about 17.5 oz), peeled and deveined
Flavoring
- 4-5 cloves Garlic, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Butter, unsalted
- 1 tbsp Olive oil, extra virgin
- 1 tsp Crushed chillies (dried red chilli flakes) – optional
- ½ tsp Salt, or to taste
- ½ tsp Black pepper, freshly ground
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- Handful Parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Heat the Pan: Place a large skillet or pan over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of butter along with 1 tbsp of olive oil. Allow the butter to melt and the oil to heat for a few seconds.
- Sear the Prawns: Add the peeled and deveined prawns to the hot pan. Let them sear without moving for 1-2 minutes to develop a nice golden color. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Flip and Add Garlic: Turn the prawns over to the other side. Immediately add the finely chopped garlic to the pan and stir-fry together with the prawns for another 1-2 minutes until the prawns are cooked through and the garlic is fragrant.
- Add Butter, Chillies, and Lemon: Stir in the remaining 1 tbsp of butter and the crushed red chilli flakes (if using). Pour in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and mix everything thoroughly to coat the prawns in a glossy, spicy, buttery sauce.
- Finish with Parsley: Turn off the heat and sprinkle the finely chopped parsley over the dish. Give a gentle stir.
- Serve: Transfer the garlic butter prawns to a serving plate. Enjoy them hot alongside your choice of bread, fresh salad, or any preferred side dishes.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of crushed chillies to control the spiciness.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best citrus flavor.
- This dish cooks very quickly, so watch the prawns carefully to avoid overcooking.
- Unsalted butter is recommended to control the saltiness, but you can use salted butter if preferred.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the prawns at their best texture and flavor.
