Ingredients
Beef and Vegetables
- 1.5 lbs top sirloin beef steak tips, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 3 cups fresh chopped broccoli, cut into various sizes
Sauce and Flavorings
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh ginger (divided)
- 1 clove minced garlic
- 1/3 cup coconut aminos or gluten-free Tamari soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tbsp chili garlic sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tbsp arrowroot powder (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Cut the top sirloin steak tips into 1-inch cubes and chop the broccoli into various sizes to ensure even cooking.
- Heat Oil and Aromatics: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of fresh chopped ginger, and the minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing briefly to release the aromas.
- Sauté Beef and Broccoli: Add the cubed beef and chopped broccoli to the skillet. Continue to sauté until the beef begins to brown on the edges, about 3 to 4 minutes, then reduce the heat to medium to prevent burning.
- Mix and Add Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the coconut aminos or tamari, sesame oil, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, ground ginger, honey, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped ginger. Pour this sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli in the skillet, tossing well to coat evenly.
- Simmer Until Cooked: Let the stir-fry simmer for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your preferred doneness of the beef (5 minutes will yield medium to medium-well). If the sauce remains too thin, combine 1 tablespoon arrowroot powder with 1 tablespoon water and stir into the skillet, cooking until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve the ginger beef and broccoli hot over cooked rice or cauliflower rice. Optionally, garnish with toasted sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.
Notes
- Arrowroot powder is optional and used to thicken the sauce if desired.
- Adjust chili garlic sauce according to your preferred spice level.
- Serve with cauliflower rice for a low-carb option or traditional rice if preferred.
- Ensure to cut beef and broccoli uniformly to promote even cooking.
- Use gluten-free tamari or coconut aminos to keep the recipe gluten-free.
