Description
A wholesome and cozy healthy breakfast apple crumble made with apples, oats, pecans, cinnamon, and honey. Naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free, perfect for breakfast or as a lighter dessert.
Ingredients
6 sweet apples
1 tbsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
2 tsp coconut oil
2/3 cup oats
2/3 cup pecans
1 tbsp coconut oil
2 tsp honey
1 tbsp water (for crumble binding)
Instructions
- Chop the apples and sauté them in a pan with cinnamon, salt, and coconut oil over medium-high heat. Cover for 2–3 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.
- Place the crumble ingredients (oats, pecans, coconut oil, honey, and water) into a food processor and pulse until crumbly and sticking together.
- Prepare a small baking pan by lightly oiling it or lining with parchment paper. Spread the apples evenly in the pan.
- Form larger crumble pieces by squeezing the mixture, then spread them over the apples.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving with milk, yogurt, or ice cream.
Notes
Swap pecans with almonds, walnuts, or hazelnuts.
Add raisins or cranberries to the apples for extra flavor.
Use maple syrup instead of honey for a vegan version.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
Reheat in the microwave for 30–60 seconds or in the oven at 160°C/325°F for 10–15 minutes.
