Ingredients
1 cup water
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced
3 whole cloves
Juice of 1 lemon
1 Ceylon cinnamon stick
Rosemary sprig, for garnish
Instructions
- In a heat-safe mug, combine the sliced ginger, whole cloves, lemon juice, and cinnamon stick.
- Pour hot water (just off the boil) over the ingredients in the mug.
- Stir gently and let steep for 3–5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Garnish with a rosemary sprig.
- Enjoy warm for best flavor and comfort.
Notes
Add a teaspoon of maple syrup or honey for sweetness (omit honey to keep it vegan).
Swap lemon with orange or add orange slices for a citrus twist.
Add star anise or peppercorns for deeper spice complexity.
Use fresh thyme or mint instead of rosemary for a different herbal aroma.
Let it cool and serve over ice for a refreshing iced version.
Store in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat gently before serving.
