Description

This Spiced Lemon Ginger Hot Toddy Mocktail is a warming, made with fresh ginger, lemon juice, cloves, and cinnamon. It’s perfect for cozy evenings or soothing a sore throat, and it’s naturally vegan and caffeine-free.

Ingredients

1 cup water

1-inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced

3 whole cloves

Juice of 1 lemon

1 Ceylon cinnamon stick

Rosemary sprig, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a heat-safe mug, combine the sliced ginger, whole cloves, lemon juice, and cinnamon stick.
  2. Pour hot water (just off the boil) over the ingredients in the mug.
  3. Stir gently and let steep for 3–5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Garnish with a rosemary sprig.
  5. Enjoy warm for best flavor and comfort.

Notes

Add a teaspoon of maple syrup or honey for sweetness (omit honey to keep it vegan).

Swap lemon with orange or add orange slices for a citrus twist.

Add star anise or peppercorns for deeper spice complexity.

Use fresh thyme or mint instead of rosemary for a different herbal aroma.

Let it cool and serve over ice for a refreshing iced version.

Store in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat gently before serving.
