Description

Spinach and Cheese Puffs are golden, flaky puff pastry filled with a creamy, cheesy spinach mixture. Perfect as a party appetizer, snack, or potluck dish, these bite-sized pastries are easy to make and guaranteed to be a hit.

Ingredients

1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp Italian seasoning

2 eggs, divided

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 (10 oz) bag frozen spinach, thawed and drained

1 (2-count) box frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine cream cheese, parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, 1 egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Soak thawed spinach in hot water for 2 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess liquid.
  4. Add spinach to the cheese mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Unroll one puff pastry sheet at a time and cut each into 9 equal squares.
  6. Turn squares diagonally like diamonds, place filling in the center, leaving space on edges.
  7. Place filled squares on baking trays. Brush one corner with whisked egg, fold over filling, then fold the egg-washed corner over and press to seal.
  8. Brush tops with remaining egg and sprinkle with parmesan.
  9. Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Customize with fresh herbs like basil, thyme, or parsley.
  • Swap parmesan for cheddar, feta, or mozzarella.
  • Use fresh spinach sautéed and drained instead of frozen.
  • These can be frozen before baking for make-ahead appetizers.
  • For best texture, reheat in the oven instead of the microwave.
