Description
These Starbucks Copycat Oat Bars are chewy, flavorful, and perfectly sweetened snack bars that mimic the popular bakery treat. Made with rolled oats, a buttery syrupy base of turbinado sugar, brown sugar, and golden syrup with a hint of cinnamon, these bars offer a deliciously satisfying texture and taste. They are baked until golden on the edges, then cooled and sliced into 16 servings, perfect for an on-the-go snack or breakfast treat.
Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 10 Tablespoons salted butter (¾ Cup or 1 ¼ Sticks)
- ⅓ Cup golden syrup
Sweeteners and Flavorings
- ⅓ Cup turbinado sugar
- ⅓ Cup brown sugar
- ¼ Teaspoon salt
- ¼ Teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dry Ingredients
- 2 ¾ Cups quick-cooking rolled oats
Instructions
- Line Baking Dish: Prepare a 9-inch square baking dish by lining the bottom and sides with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (177°C) to preheat while you prepare the oat mixture.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, turbinado sugar, brown sugar, golden syrup, salt, and cinnamon.
- Melt Mixture: Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the butter has fully melted and the brown sugar has mostly dissolved. The turbinado sugar will remain slightly crystallized. Remove from heat.
- Add Oats: Stir the rolled oats into the buttery sugar mixture until all the oats are well coated.
- Press Mixture: Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to press it down firmly and evenly to create a flat surface.
- Bake Bars: Place the baking dish in the oven. Immediately reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C). Bake for 25 minutes or until the edges turn a light golden brown.
- Cut Bars While Hot: Remove the bars from the oven. While still hot and in the pan, cut the flapjacks into 16 even pieces to prevent cracking later.
- Cool Completely: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. This helps them set properly and hold their shape.
- Lift and Slice: Once cooled, carefully lift the bars out of the baking dish using the parchment paper. Place on a cutting board and re-cut along the previously scored lines to separate individual bars.
- Serve or Store: Serve immediately or store the oat bars in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Line the baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
- Use quick-cooking rolled oats for the best texture; old-fashioned oats can make the bars too chewy.
- Press the oat mixture firmly and evenly to ensure bars hold together well.
- Cutting the bars while still hot helps prevent them from crumbling.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- Golden syrup can be substituted with light corn syrup or honey if unavailable.
