Description
These Strawberry Bliss Balls are a deliciously healthy and naturally sweet snack, made with fresh strawberries, oats, sunflower seeds, and coconut. They are easy to prepare using a food processor, require no baking, and are perfect for a quick energy boost or a light dessert. Coated with desiccated coconut, these bliss balls offer a refreshing fruity flavor combined with a satisfying texture.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 200 g strawberries (about 1 cup, 12 strawberries)
- 150 g oats (1.5 cups)
- 140 g sunflower seeds (1 cup)
- 50 g desiccated coconut (0.5 cups)
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla paste
For Coating
- 2 Tbsp desiccated coconut
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Remove the tops from the strawberries and weigh out 200 grams. You can slice them to measure approximately 1 cup. Prepare all other ingredients and have them ready.
- Blend Ingredients: Place the strawberries, oats, sunflower seeds, desiccated coconut, maple syrup, and vanilla paste into a food processor. Blend thoroughly until the mixture becomes a fine paste and forms a rollable dough. This may take some time, so be patient.
- Chill the Dough: If the mixture feels too soft, refrigerate it for about 30 minutes to firm up, making it easier to roll. This step can be skipped if using frozen berries.
- Portion the Dough: Use a tablespoon (dampened to prevent sticking) to scoop out portions of the mixture.
- Roll into Balls: With damp hands, roll each portion into smooth, round balls to prevent the mixture from sticking.
- Coat the Balls: Place 2 tablespoons of desiccated coconut in a small bowl. Roll each ball in the coconut to evenly coat them.
- Refrigerate: Chill the coated bliss balls in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight to set before serving.
Notes
- Using a damp spoon and damp hands helps to prevent the mixture from sticking during shaping.
- If you want a slightly different texture, you can substitute coconut flour for desiccated coconut in the dough, but the recipe as given uses desiccated coconut.
- The recipe no longer suggests using coconut oil as it works fine without it.
- The bliss balls can be stored in the refrigerator for several days and also freeze well for longer storage.
- This recipe is naturally gluten-free if using gluten-free oats.
