Description

A vibrant and refreshing Strawberry Matcha Smoothie featuring distinct layers of sweet strawberry and earthy matcha, enriched with creamy coconut milk and optional protein boosters for a nutritious start to your day.

Ingredients

Strawberry Layer

  • 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup full-fat coconut milk
  • ½ cup water or coconut water
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Matcha Layer

  • 1 tsp matcha powder (ceremonial grade recommended)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • ½ zucchini
  • ½ cup full-fat coconut milk
  • ½ cup water or coconut water

Optional Protein Boosters

  • 1 serving collagen powder
  • 3 tbsp hemp hearts

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Layer: Add all strawberry layer ingredients, including any optional protein boosters, into a blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  2. Freeze the Strawberry Layer: Pour the blended strawberry mixture into a glass until it fills halfway. Place the glass in the freezer for 5 minutes to allow the layer to set and create a clear separation between layers.
  3. Prepare the Matcha Layer: Rinse out the blender thoroughly to remove strawberry residue. Then add all the matcha layer ingredients into the blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
  4. Layer the Smoothie: Carefully spoon the matcha mixture over the chilled strawberry layer in the glass for a visually appealing two-tone effect. Alternatively, gently pour the matcha layer over the back of a spoon onto the strawberry layer to maintain separation.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the layered smoothie immediately to enjoy the fresh, distinct flavors and textures.

Notes

  • Use full-fat coconut milk for a richer, creamier texture and flavor.
  • Freezing the strawberry layer briefly helps maintain the separation of layers for a visually appealing smoothie.
  • The optional vanilla extract enhances the sweetness and depth of the strawberry layer but can be omitted.
  • Adding protein boosters like collagen powder or hemp hearts increases the smoothie’s nutritional value without altering flavor significantly.
  • Use ceremonial grade matcha powder for the best flavor and vivid green color.
  • If you prefer a thinner consistency, add more water or coconut water to achieve the desired texture.
