Description
This Tahini Hot Chocolate is a super dreamy, protein-rich beverage combining the nutty flavor of tahini with rich cocoa and natural sweeteners. Perfect for a comforting, creamy treat that’s easy to make in just 5 minutes, it includes collagen peptides for added creaminess and protein, with options to customize sweetness and non-dairy milk powders for extra depth.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp tahini
- 1 pitted medjool date (or 2 tsp coconut sugar, or other sweetener of choice)
- ½ tsp maple syrup or honey (omit honey if vegan)
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp collagen peptides (adds creaminess + protein; omit if vegan)
- 2 Tbsp coconut milk powder (or omit and sub the hot water with warmed milk of choice)
- 1 ¼ cup very hot water (or milk of choice)
Toppings (optional)
- Coconut whipped cream
- Drizzle of tahini
- Dusting of cocoa powder
- Shaved dark chocolate
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients, making sure the date is pitted if using. If you don’t have a high-speed blender, prepare to heat on the stovetop and adjust sweeteners accordingly.
- Blend Ingredients: Add all the main ingredients to a high-speed blender with a vented lid to allow steam to escape. Blend until the mixture is creamy and smooth, ensuring all the tahini and cocoa powder are fully integrated.
- Taste and Adjust: Sample the hot chocolate and adjust the sweetness or flavor by adding more honey or maple syrup for sweetness, cinnamon for warmth, more cocoa powder for richer chocolate flavor, or coconut milk powder or tahini to boost creaminess.
- Serve with Toppings: Pour the hot chocolate into your favorite mug. Top with coconut whipped cream, a drizzle of tahini, a dusting of cocoa powder, or chocolate curls for a luxurious touch.
- Storage and Reheating: Enjoy immediately for best flavor. Leftovers can be sealed in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop before serving.
Notes
- If you don’t have a blender, omit the date for stovetop prep and add sweetener separately.
- Collagen peptides add protein and creaminess but can be omitted for a vegan option.
- Adjust sweetness and spices to personal taste for a customized flavor profile.
- Use warmed milk instead of water and omit coconut milk powder for an even creamier result.
- Serve immediately for optimal taste and texture, but leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days.
