Description

A creamy, tangy Avocado Crema that blends ripe avocado with fresh jalapeño, sour cream, lime juice, and cilantro, perfect as a flavorful dip or topping for Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

Avocado Crema Ingredients

  • 1 whole avocado
  • 1/2 jalapeno
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tbsp fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocado: Cut the avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into the food processor bowl to create a smooth base.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the jalapeño, sour cream, fresh cilantro leaves, lime juice, and kosher salt to the food processor with the avocado.
  3. Blend the Mixture: Pulse the food processor for 15 to 20 seconds until the mixture is fully blended and emulsified, resulting in a smooth and creamy texture.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Scoop the avocado crema into a serving dish. Optionally garnish with a sprig of cilantro and thin slices of jalapeño for an extra pop of flavor and visual appeal.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of jalapeño depending on how spicy you like your crema.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor and brightness.
  • For a vegan version, substitute sour cream with a plant-based yogurt or cashew cream.
  • This crema is perfect as a dip, a sauce for tacos, or drizzled over grilled vegetables.
  • Store leftover crema in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 2 days; stir before serving.
