Description

Brazilian Lemonade is a refreshing and creamy citrus beverage made with fresh limes, cold water, granulated sugar, and sweetened condensed milk. This easy-to-make drink combines the tartness of limes with the sweetness of condensed milk, blended to a frothy perfection and served chilled over ice. Perfect for hot days or as a delightful accompaniment to any meal.

Ingredients

Drink Base

  • 6 cups cold water
  • 5 limes, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Flavor Enhancer

  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (or more to taste)

For Serving

  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Blend Limes and Sugar: Into a blender, add the cold water, lime wedges, and granulated sugar. Blend until smooth and the lime wedges are completely blended to release their flavors.
  2. Strain the Mixture: Place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the blended contents into the strainer, allowing the liquid to collect below. Discard the lime pulp and pieces caught in the strainer to ensure a smooth drink.
  3. Prepare Blender: Rinse out the blender to remove pulp residue. Pour the strained lime juice mixture back into the blender.
  4. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Blend: Add the sweetened condensed milk to the blender and blend again until the mixture is smooth and frothy, which enhances the creamy texture.
  5. Serve Chilled: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Brazilian lemonade over the ice. Garnish with slices of fresh lime for an extra burst of citrus aroma and presentation.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm limes for the best flavor and less bitterness from seeds and pith.
  • Adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk to your preference for sweetness and creaminess.
  • Do not blend the limes too long to avoid excessive bitterness from the lime skin.
  • This drink is best enjoyed immediately to prevent separation.
  • For a lighter version, substitute sweetened condensed milk with evaporated milk or reduce the sugar.
