Description

This Fried Pickle Ranch Dip is a creamy, tangy, and crunchy delight, perfect as a snack or party appetizer. Made with whipped cream cheese, sour cream, fresh herbs, finely chopped dill pickles, and a crispy toasted panko breadcrumb crunch, it’s bursting with bold flavors. Chilled for a couple of hours to develop its full taste, this dip pairs wonderfully with chips, pretzels, veggies, or as a flavorful sandwich spread.

Ingredients

For the Dip

  • 12 ounces whipped cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup dill pickle, finely chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 3 tablespoons ranch seasoning
  • 3 cloves garlic, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (plus some for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely snipped (plus some for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed from 1/2 a lemon)

For the Topping

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Toast the Panko: Add the panko breadcrumbs to a dry skillet and heat over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally for about 3-5 minutes until the panko is golden brown and crispy. Remove from heat and set aside to cool, reserving about 1 tablespoon for garnish.
  2. Combine the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the whipped cream cheese, sour cream, finely chopped dill pickles, ranch seasoning, freshly grated garlic, chopped fresh dill, finely snipped chives, onion powder, kosher salt to taste, and freshly ground black pepper. Squeeze in the lemon juice and stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Add Toasted Panko: Fold in the toasted panko breadcrumbs (except the reserved tablespoon) into the dip mixture until evenly distributed for added texture and crunch.
  4. Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and deepen, enhancing the taste.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Transfer the chilled dip to a shallow bowl. Sprinkle the top with reserved finely chopped dill pickles, toasted panko, and additional fresh herbs like dill and chives for an appealing presentation and extra flavor.
  6. Enjoy as a Snack or Spread: Serve with wavy chips, pretzel thins, or fresh vegetables for dipping. Alternatively, use this dip as a flavorful spread in sandwiches and wraps for a tasty twist.

Notes

  • Toasting the panko adds a delightful crunch and nutty flavor that elevates the dip.
  • You can substitute regular cream cheese with whipped cream cheese for a lighter texture or use a combination.
  • Adjust the ranch seasoning and garlic according to your taste preference.
  • The dip tastes even better after chilling as the flavors get well blended.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the panko breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten-free crackers.
  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor and garnish presentation.
