Ingredients
Milk Base
- 3 cups almond milk (or milk of choice)
Spices
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground turmeric
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (plus more for sprinkling)
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger)
- Pinch of black pepper
Sweetener and Additions
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan, whisk together the almond milk, ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground or fresh ginger, and a pinch of black pepper to create the spice blend infused milk base.
- Heat and Simmer: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently to ensure the spices dissolve well and to prevent the milk from boiling.
- Finish and Strain: Once the mixture is warmed through and the spices are fully incorporated, remove it from heat. Stir in the honey and coconut oil if using. Optionally, strain the latte to remove fresh grated ginger pieces for a smoother texture.
- Serve: Pour the golden milk into mugs and sprinkle a little ground cinnamon on top before serving to add extra flavor and a touch of visual appeal.
Notes
- Use almond milk or any plant-based milk to keep this latte dairy-free and vegan-friendly when omitting honey or substituting it with maple syrup.
- Adjust the amount of turmeric and spices according to your taste preference.
- Fresh ginger can be substituted for ground ginger but strain afterwards to avoid texture issues.
- Coconut oil is optional but adds richness and may help with absorption of turmeric’s active compounds.
- Black pepper is essential as it enhances the bioavailability of curcumin in turmeric.
