Description

This flavorful Grilled Turmeric Chicken recipe features juicy boneless skinless chicken thighs marinated in a vibrant blend of turmeric, ginger, garlic, and spices. Perfectly grilled to perfection, it offers a smoky, aromatic dish that’s both easy to prepare and impressively delicious.

Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric (or 1 tbsp freshly grated turmeric)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs with olive oil, grated ginger, turmeric, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, coriander, salt, black pepper, lemon zest, lemon juice, and honey. Mix thoroughly to evenly coat all the pieces.
  2. Marinate Chicken: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat deeply.
  3. Preheat Grill: Heat your outdoor grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat, approximately 450ºF, ensuring it is hot enough to sear the chicken nicely.
  4. Grill Chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade and place the pieces directly onto the grill rack or pan. Grill for 5-7 minutes on each side, turning carefully, until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF and the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Serve or Store: Enjoy immediately or store the cooked chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for convenient meal prep.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the chicken overnight to maximize flavor infusion.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165ºF.
  • You can substitute boneless skinless chicken breasts if preferred, adjusting grilling time accordingly.
  • This recipe works well with either an outdoor grill or a stovetop grill pan.
  • Leftover chicken is great for salads, wraps, or sandwiches.
