Description

This Hot Honey Hummus is a vibrant and creamy twist on classic hummus, infused with spicy-sweet hot honey for a unique and flavorful dip. Perfect for serving as an appetizer or snack, this recipe blends chickpeas, garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and hot honey into a smooth, luscious spread that’s garnished with extra chickpeas, olive oil, and a final drizzle of hot honey.

Ingredients

Hummus Base

  • 2 (14 ounce) cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ⅔ cup tahini
  • ¼ cup hot honey, plus more for drizzling
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • ¼ to ½ cup ice water
  • Olive oil, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Reserve Chickpeas: Set aside a handful of chickpeas to use as garnish on the finished hummus.
  2. Blend Ingredients: Combine chickpeas, minced garlic, tahini, hot honey, lemon juice, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper in a food processor. Blend and pulse for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping down the sides every 30 seconds to ensure everything is evenly blended.
  3. Add Ice Water: With the food processor running, slowly stream in the ice water. Continue blending until the hummus is super smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper as needed; blend again to incorporate.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Spread the hummus in a bowl or on a serving plate. Top with the reserved chickpeas. Drizzle generously with olive oil and a big drizzle of hot honey. Sprinkle with additional salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of hot honey to increase or decrease the spiciness and sweetness according to your preference.
  • If the hummus is too thick, gradually add more ice water until reaching your desired consistency.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • This hummus pairs wonderfully with pita chips, fresh vegetables, or as a sandwich spread.
  • Store leftover hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
