Description

Korean Strawberry Milk is a delightful and refreshing drink combining a sweet, thickened strawberry sauce with creamy milk. This homemade version uses fresh strawberries simmered with sugar and lemon juice to create a luscious syrup that is then mixed with chilled milk for a naturally flavorful and fruity beverage.

Ingredients

Strawberry Sauce

  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

Milk Mixture

  • 1 gallon 2% milk (or nut milk of choice)
  • Additional chopped strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberry Sauce: Combine the hulled and chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium-sized pot. This mixture will form the base of the strawberry syrup.
  2. Cook the Mixture: Place the pot over medium-low heat and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent burning. As the strawberries cook, they will release their juices and the mixture will begin to thicken into a sweet sauce.
  3. Cool the Sauce: Remove the pot from heat and let the strawberry sauce cool to room temperature or refrigerate it. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools, developing a more concentrated strawberry flavor.
  4. Assemble the Drink: In a tall glass, spoon 1/4 cup of the cooled strawberry sauce. For a decorative touch, smear the sauce around the inside of the glass. Add extra diced strawberries if desired for garnish and texture.
  5. Add Milk and Serve: Pour cold milk into the glass over the strawberry sauce. Stir gently to distribute the sauce evenly throughout the milk, then enjoy your homemade Korean Strawberry Milk.

Notes

  • You can use nut milk such as almond, oat, or soy for a dairy-free version.
  • Adjust the sugar quantity to your preference or use a sugar substitute to reduce calories.
  • The thicker the strawberry sauce, the richer the flavor; make sure not to overcook to avoid bitterness.
  • Serve chilled for the best refreshing taste.
  • Leftover strawberry sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days and used as a topping for desserts.
