Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 cup fresh basil
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley
- 1/3 jalapeño, or more to taste
- 2 scallions
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (1 clove)
- 1/4 cup tahini
- Juice of 1 fresh lime
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 3/4 teaspoon pink sea salt, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons water, or more to thin out
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all fresh ingredients including avocado, basil, cilantro, parsley, jalapeño, and scallions. Peel and pit the avocado, clean and roughly chop the herbs, slice the jalapeño according to desired spice level, and mince the garlic clove.
- Blend Ingredients: Place all ingredients into a food processor or high-speed blender. Blend on high for 4-6 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, ensuring the herbs and avocado fully combine with the tahini and lime juice.
- Adjust Seasoning and Consistency: Taste the sauce and adjust salt, pepper, or garlic as desired. Add additional water gradually to reach your preferred consistency for drizzling or dipping. Blend again briefly to integrate any added liquids.
- Serve and Enjoy: Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl or jar. It pairs wonderfully with grilled foods, tacos, salads, or as a versatile dipping sauce. Store any leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 3 days.
Notes
- This sauce can be made spicier by increasing the amount of jalapeño.
- Use fresh lime juice for the best tangy flavor.
- If you don’t have tahini, you can substitute with a mild nut butter or omit it for a lighter sauce.
- Adjust water quantity depending on whether you want a thick dip or a pourable sauce.
- Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container to maintain freshness and color.
