Description
A delicious and healthy homemade Strawberry Mango Fruit Leather recipe, perfect for a naturally sweet snack. This easy-to-make fruit roll-up features fresh strawberries and mango blended into a smooth puree, then dehydrated slowly to create a chewy, fruity treat without any artificial additives or preservatives.
Ingredients
Fruits
- 3 cups fresh strawberries
- 1 cup mango, fresh or frozen
Additional Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the fruit: Wash the strawberries thoroughly, trim off the tops, and add them to a blender. Include the mango, lemon juice, and optional maple syrup for sweetness, then blend everything until smooth and well combined.
- Spread the puree: Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat. Pour the fruit puree onto the mat and spread it as evenly as possible. Gently tap the baking sheet on your countertop to help the puree level out uniformly.
- Dehydrate the fruit puree: Place the baking sheet in a dehydrator (or oven set to 167°F/75°C) and dry the fruit leather for approximately 8 hours. Periodically check to ensure it doesn’t over-dry, which would result in a brittle texture. The fruit leather is ready when it is no longer sticky to the touch but still pliable.
- Cut and roll: Once dehydrated and cooled slightly, slice the fruit leather into strips. Roll each strip up, optionally wrapping them with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Store the rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Avoid refrigeration as it can harden the fruit leather.
Notes
- Using a silicone mat is essential to prevent sticking and ease removal of the fruit leather.
- If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use an oven set at the lowest temperature (around 167°F) with the door slightly ajar for air circulation.
- Maple syrup is optional and can be omitted if you prefer the fruit leather without added sweetness.
- Store the fruit leathers at room temperature to maintain their chewy texture; refrigeration can make them hard and less enjoyable to eat.
